Microsoft unveils major update for Sticky Notes, adds screenshot tool and new redesign

Microsoft has revealed a major update to its staple note-taking software, Microsoft Sticky Notes, currently available for testing in Microsoft OneNote. The refreshed app maintains the ability to pin to the taskbar or launch via the Win + Alt + S shortcut, but it also now features a screenshot tool, enabling users to capture and link images of webpages, apps, and documents for easy future reference.

Users can still generate multiple notes, alter note colors, format text, and synchronize notes across devices using their Microsoft Account. The app can also be accessed on mobile devices through OneNote for iOS and Android.

The updated Sticky Notes is gradually being introduced to Microsoft 365 Insiders in the Current Channel (Preview). To access the new features, users require OneNote for Windows version 2402 with build number 17328.20000 or later. There's no mention of AI-powered features like Copilot though, which are now standard in simpler apps such as Notepad.
