Fandom's new AI-powered Quick Answers feature faces backlash due to inaccuracies

Fandom has recently launched a new AI-powered Quick Answers feature, providing users with concise information through a question-and-answer dropdown format. It's currently available on multiple popular wikis,summarizing information and getting quick details about specific questions without having to search among several pages or long entries. However, the tool has been severely criticized for providing incorrect responses.

Quick Answers was actually tested since August 2023, but its inaccuracies led to community backlash, which is why it was paused until now. In response, Fandom introduced an edit function allowing wiki admins and editors to verify the information. Despite the controversy, Quick Answers will be an optional feature on character pages of franchises like Avatar, Harry Potter, The Last of Us, and The Witcher, allowing users to opt out of AI features.

Alongside Quick Answers, Fandom is integrating an Image Review tool to automate the approval process of user-submitted photos, improving content moderation. The platform also plans to add auto-tagging to enhance SEO for wiki content.
