Adobe halts further investment in XD following failed $20bn Figma acquisition attempt
Adobe has officially announced the cessation of further investment in Adobe XD, its vector design tool used by designers and developers for web and mobile applications. This announcement comes in the wake of Adobe's unsuccessful $20 billion bid to acquire Figma, a competitor in the design software market. The deal was halted by regulators over concerns that it could lead to a monopoly. Adobe's decision to halt the expansion of XD ironically provides an opportunity for Figma and other competitors to fill the vacuum.
In the “Learn & Support” section on Adobe's website, the company clarified that Adobe XD will remain in maintenance mode. Adobe will not be investing in ongoing development or introducing new features for the product. However, they committed to support existing customers by fixing bugs and updating any security or privacy needs during this maintenance period.
Adobe also expressed its openness to collaborate with new product design partners. The company emphasized, “Adobe has a long history of putting customers first. We will continually work with customers to determine the right time to end support for XD with a significant notice period.”
An Adobe spokesperson told Bloomberg that the company is now focusing on opportunities in imaging, photography, design, web, animation and 3D, as well as Express and Firefly.

Adobe and their pricing model is horrible, but seeing Xd go is also a sad loss.
Xd and Lunacity are the only two viable UI & UX design application that is native. Others, like Figma and even the open-source Penpot are all web-based apps relying on tech like Electron that is slower and consume more resource. So now we're left with only Lunacy being the only one with a native app.
Can't wait to see more and more old Adobe products get put down because of better less expensive concurrent products :)
