WhatsApp adds new improved calling features like selective participants & video effects

WhatsApp has introduced new calling features, allowing users to select specific participants from a group chat for calls, which is particularly useful for planning events without disturbing the entire group. Additionally, there are ten new video call effects, including fun elements like puppy ears and karaoke microphones.

The desktop app has been enhanced with a revamped calls tab, making it easier to start calls, create call links, and dial numbers directly. Users can now generate call links from the desktop app.

The platform has also improved the reliability and resolution of video calls, providing higher quality video for both 1:1 and group calls on desktop and mobile platforms.
