Visual Studio Code 1.96 brings Overtype mode, JS/TS auto imports, and enhanced debugging
Microsoft has released the November 2024 update for Visual Studio Code, version 1.96, featuring a range of new functionalities and improvements. This update introduces an Overtype mode, allowing users to switch between overwrite and insert modes within the editor. VS Code now automatically adds missing TypeScript and JavaScript imports when code is pasted. Developers can now filter code based on test coverage, providing a streamlined way to identify covered sections. Additionally, users can move views between the primary and secondary sidebars with ease, enhancing workspace organization.
In the terminal, support for ligatures has been added, improving readability. Administrators can now configure an extension allow list to control which extensions are permitted for installation within their organization. The update also includes enhanced debugging capabilities with the copilot-debug
terminal command, enabling users to initiate debugging sessions. Additionally, users can add symbols and folders as context in Chat and Edits, and seamlessly transition from chat to Copilot Edits to implement code suggestions in GitHub Copilot.
I waited it so long, ligatures in terminal 🥳
