Nitrux 3.8.0 'db' launches with Linux kernel 6.12.1-1 and major component upgrades
Nitrux OS 3.8.0, codenamed "db," has been launched with enhancements in performance and hardware integration. This update incorporates the Linux kernel 6.12.1-1 (Liquorix) and upgrades key components such as Mozilla Firefox to version 133.0 and the Nitrux Update Tool System to 2.1.9. The Mesa 3D Graphics Library is now updated to version 24.2.8.
Enhancements to the Calamares installation system include the removal of a non-functional kernel parameter and the addition of new ones to address clock drift issues in some laptops. OpenRC services have been optimized by reorganizing services into appropriate runlevels, improving boot time. The rsyslog service script has also been improved. Desktop configuration has been updated with refreshed scripts for the Documentation directory and updated installation scripts for Flatpaks like Steam, Bottles, and HGL, as well as LibreOffice and bauh AppImages.
A new notification system alerts users if the distribution is running in a VM or if minimum system requirements are not met. The Debian root filesystem has been updated for enhanced performance and compatibility, and offline documentation has been refreshed. Additionally, a patch for the Broadcom STA driver has been applied, enabling it to build against Linux 6.12+ using DKMS.
