Microsoft updates the Xbox App on Windows with a new redesign and over 400 new games

Microsoft has updated the Xbox App on Windows, adding nearly 400 new PC games and a new redesigned home experience. This update aims to make the app the main hub for PC games, including those not part of the PC Game Pass catalog.

Of the 400 new titles added, around 100 new titles support Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing cross-play between Xbox consoles and PCs. The new home UI features content from PC Game Pass and the Xbox Game Pass, along with deals and discounts. There's also a “jump back in” section for quickly resuming recent games.

There is speculation about future integration with Steam, Epic Games Store, and itch.io in possible updates, although more details about this will be shared at the Game Developers Conference in March.

Looks like MS believes the future of the Xbox brand is in platform agnosticism, and they might not be wrong. Even Sony is kind of going that direction with their multiplatform releases. Who knows what the future holds for the gaming world? It is going to be interesting.
