Bench accounting unexpectedly shuts down, urges clients to transition by March 2025
Bench Accounting, a leading bookkeeping service for small businesses in North America, has unexpectedly shut down, leaving many customers surprised and worried, especially during the important tax season. The company announced on its website that its platform will be unavailable from December 27, 2024. Alongside this announcement, Bench deactivated its Instagram and Facebook pages and informed customers via email, causing widespread confusion and frustration.
In a statement, Bench expressed regret for the disruption and thanked its customers for their support over the past 13 years, pledging to assist them during the transition. Customers can access the website until December 30 to download their year-end financials and other documents, with a final deadline for data recovery on March 7, 2025.
Bench suggests switching to Kick Bookkeeping, a modern accounting software with exclusive support deals for former clients. Bench plans to provide further guidance via email and its website on data access and transitioning to alternative services like the previosusly mentioned Kick, Intuit QuickBooks or Zoho Books
