Sony updates the PlayStation Portal to include Cloud Game Streaming without needing a PS5
Sony has released a major update for the PlayStation Portal device (yes, the funny looking one), enabling direct cloud streaming of PS5 games instead of only streaming from a local PS5 over Wi-Fi as before, with the new feature currently in beta and available to PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers, who can now stream games from the Playstation Plus Game Catalog.
The beta is accessible in several countries, including the US, UK, Japan, and more, though it requires a minimum internet speed of 7 Mbps for 720p and 13 Mbps for 1080p streaming. However, features like Game Trials and certain audio capabilities are not available during this beta phase, and PS4 and PS3 games are excluded from cloud streaming.
Alongside cloud streaming, the update also brings audio enhancements, such as a reduced minimum volume level, and the ability to adjust PlayStation Link device settings directly from the PlayStation Portal. It's worth noting that cloud streaming is limited to specific PS5 games within the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, and not all PS5 titles are eligible for streaming. Additionally, child accounts are restricted from accessing the cloud streaming feature.

This "PlayStation Portal Remote Player" still reminding me of the Wii U, there is a much better game catalog but it's not even a console, so I still don't understand the real usage of it. Too bad because it's as powerful a a low-end phone and runs Android, so I could run any PSX game. Maybe the cloud gaming could be interesting but still, you've got to have a decent internet connection, and it doesn't support 4G/5G on its own.
