OpenAI introduces ChatGPT Search for enhanced web search experience
OpenAI has announced the release of ChatGPT Search, enhancing the web search capabilities of ChatGPT. Users can now obtain fast, timely answers with links to relevant web sources, integrating a natural language interface with current data such as sports scores, news, and stock quotes. ChatGPT will autonomously decide when to search the web based on user queries, or users can manually initiate a search using the web search icon.
This feature will be available on the web, desktop, and mobile apps. Access is currently granted to all ChatGPT Plus and Team users, as well as waitlist users. Enterprise and Edu users will receive access in the upcoming weeks, with a broader rollout to all free users planned over the coming months.
OpenAI has collaborated with news and data providers to incorporate up-to-date information and introduce new visual designs for categories like weather, stocks, sports, news, and maps. Chat interactions now include links to sources such as news articles and blog posts, providing a more comprehensive search experience.
