Nitrux 3.7.1 “sp” released with software updates, performance boost, and enhanced security
The Nitrux Linux distribution has unveiled its latest iteration, version 3.7.1 “sp”, featuring a range of software updates, bug fixes, performance enhancements, and enhanced hardware support. Based on the Linux kernel 6.11.5, this release incorporates several software updates, including Firefox 132, MESA 3D graphics library 24.2.4, NVIDIA Linux x64 Display Driver 565.57.01, AMD Open Source Driver for Vulkan v-2024.Q4.1, Valve’s gamescope 3.15.3, Extensible Virtual Display Interface (EVDI) driver 1.14.7, DisplayLink driver 6.1.0, and AppArmor 4.1.0-beta1.
The update also refreshes the linux-firmware
package with newer files from the Linux firmware repository, enhancing support for various drivers. Sysctl settings have been modified to bolster security and performance, including adjustments to Linux autotuning TCP buffer limits, packet queuing, TCP connection reuse, Reverse Path Filtering, and the disablement of Source Routing to mitigate IP spoofing attacks.
Additionally, the release updates the Calamares configuration, now supporting AMD GCN 2.0 (CIK) GPUs in the AMDGPU driver, and includes a configuration file for Bluetooth audio devices using the SBC audio codec. It also introduces new configuration files for SDDM to utilize rootless Wayland or X11, an OpenRC service script for identifying Broadcom wireless chips for wlan0
, firmware for the Facetime HD (Broadcom 1570) PCIe webcam found in recent MacBooks, alongside various other enhancements and bug fixes.
