ParrotOS 6.2 released with new Rocket Launcher for Docker containers and updated software
ParrotOS has unveiled its latest release, version 6.2, enhancing its performance and stability as a cybersecurity-focused Linux distribution. A key feature is Rocket, a launcher developed in Python with a PyQt6 GUI, designed to streamline the deployment of Docker containers. Compatible with other Linux distributions, Windows, and macOS, Rocket simplifies tool selection and container management.
The release is powered by the Linux kernel 6.10, with Raspberry Pi images utilizing Linux 6.6 LTS. Updated security tools include Airgeddon 11.30, Anonsurf 5.0.0, and Maltego 4.7.0. Other software updates encompass Bind9 9.18.28, Chromium 129, Codium 1.94.2, Firefox ESR 128.3, Flatpak 1.14.10, LibreOffice 24.8.2, OpenJDK 17.0.12, VirtualBox 7.0.20, VLC 3.0.21, and Tor 0.4.8.12.
System components such as initramfs-tools
and libc
have received updates, along with enhancements to parrot-tools metapackages, covering areas like info gathering, forensics, and crypto. New tool launchers in the parrot-menu facilitate easier access to these tools. Additionally, updates to libraries, drivers, and Python packages, alongside security patches and development tool upgrades (e.g., Golang, Node.js, and tmux), further bolster the distribution's capabilities.
