Microsoft's Phone Link app update brings AI-powered suggested replies to Windows 11
Microsoft has introduced a new update for its Phone Link app in Windows 11, featuring an AI-driven "Suggested replies" option for text messages.
The feature presents up to three contextually relevant text suggestions above the text field when users receive messages, generated by Microsoft's cloud-based AI. These suggestions appear only when the AI can accurately comprehend the conversation, and are limited to shorter messages, excluding long messages, URLs, or OTPs to protect sensitive content.
Microsoft assures users that while the AI analyzes messages for suggestions, it does not train its models on these messages. Users can opt out of the feature during setup, with it being enabled by default otherwise. FDespite positive early testing feedback, Microsoft advises users to verify suggestions before sending, acknowledging that errors may still occur. Privacy-conscious users can disable the feature in settings to prevent AI from accessing their messages.
