YouTube now allows podcast creators to upload episodes via RSS feed

YouTube has recently revealed through a support page that podcast creators can now utilize YouTube Studio for uploading their audio podcasts to YouTube via an RSS feed.

The new feature allows YouTube to generate a “static-image video” using the podcast show art and upload it to the creator's channel. These video podcasts will be exclusively available on YouTube and YouTube Music.

Podcast creators have the ability to modify various RSS settings including titles, descriptions, video visibility, and default video order. YouTube Studio also provides an option to disconnect an RSS feed and re-upload an episode.

YouTube has also clarified that episode details will be automatically updated from the creator's RSS feed. However, if creators alter episode details directly in YouTube Studio, future edits to that episode within the RSS feed will be blocked by YouTube.

I'd love if you could add a YouTube feed to your favorite podcast app and have it work for audio-only, offline playback. But since they want me to buy YouTube Premium for that "privilege" I'm sure it will never happen. I just hope shows will continue to post to their normal feeds as YouTube too. Shows that now only exist on YouTube ruin the podcast experience in my opinion.

So now with Youtube, RSS are reversibles (both ways), you can extract videos with RSS Feeds and you can upload videos from an RSS Feed.

I like a lot RSS Feeds (XML with own syntax), are basic files that you can easily update and works offline. They are very old but still very good. I'm using Inoreader from one month ago an I'm really happy with the app to manage my big collection of RSS feeds.
