OpenAI launched a GPT Store for user-made chatbots with a new revenue program for creators
After experiencing several setbacks, OpenAI has finally launched its GPT Store to the general public, a platform for user-made custom chatbot sharing. The store is a result of the GPT Builder program, which has facilitated the creation of over 3 million chatbots since its inception in November.
The GPT Store expands the potential uses of ChatGPT beyond OpenAI's current services by incorporating products from independent creators and various well-known third-party services like Canva, Consensus, or Khan Academy. OpenAI plans to spotlight beneficial GPTs in the store every week, promoting the sharing and discovery of these applications. The company has also initiated a revenue-sharing program for GPT creators, set to begin in the first quarter, which will reward creators based on the user engagement of their chatbots, similar to what Poe does with its Creators monetization Program.
The GPT Store is currently accessible only to subscribers of OpenAI's paid tiers, including ChatGPT Plus, Enterprise users, and the newly launched ChatGPT Team: A new subscription tier for smaller teams of about 150 members, offering access to GPT-4, DALL-E 3, OpenAI’s Advanced Data Analysis feature, and the ability to create custom GPTs for team-specific needs. Lastly, the company has also rolled out a new feature, 'GPT memory', enabling ChatGPT to 'learn' from user interactions and deliver more relevant responses. This feature can be adjusted and reset by the user.
