The latest version of the open-source video editor, Shotcut 24.01, has been launched. This updated version includes a new Audio API for Linux and Windows systems, available under Settings Player, and features the --SDL_AUDIODRIVER command line option. It also introduces new backup scheduling options, offering users the ability to back up their current project file on an hourly, daily, or weekly basis.

The Split At Playhead feature now supports multiple selections, enhancing editing flexibility, and other features such as Player Loop () and Player Set Loop Range, have been added, along with an improved undo and redo system that includes filter-related actions.

Additional updates include a pause and resume function in the context menu for jobs, a new 'Other Versions' submenu to assist users in finding similarly-named project files created by the backup or recovery systems, and a new improved Timeline with features like 'Nudge Forward and Nudge Backward', and 'Split All Tracks At Playhead'. There's also a lot of bug fixes and updates to the Jobs log viewer, Slideshow Generator, UI panel splitter, and player controls. You can check all the new details included here.
