Valve unveils Counter-Strike 2 on Steam with major technical advancements
Valve has officially launched Counter-Strike 2 on its digital distribution platform, Steam, marking a new era after over ten years of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) gameplay. Valve's announcement highlights that Counter-Strike 2 represents “the largest technical leap forward in Counter-Strike's history, supporting new features today and updates for years to come”.
Counter-Strike 2 will offer familiar maps and matchmaking modes to its fan base. Simultaneously, the game introduces a reimagined Premier mode, enabling players to develop their unique Counter-Strike Ratings. This highly awaited upgrade from CS:GO incorporates substantial updates including enhanced smoke grenades, remodeled maps, and upgraded network features.
The game's revamp is powered by Valve's Source 2 engine, which provides a much-needed refresh to the game's aesthetics, audio, and user interface.
