GitLab 16.4 released with customizable roles, group-level dependency list, and more
GitLab, a prominent DevSecOps platform and a leading alternative to GitHub, has launched GitLab 16.4, introducing customizable roles and a group-level dependency list. The new features enable group owners or administrators to create and remove custom roles via the UI under the Roles and Permissions menu.
The latest version also introduces workspaces for private projects, enabling local access to clusters using GitLab user identity, and the ability to generate a group/sub-group level dependency list.
Notably, GitLab 16.4 allows users to bulk change the status and comment on multiple vulnerabilities from a group or project. It also presents the ability to create a custom role based on the access of the Reporter role, but with additional permissions. Users can now set id_tokens as a global default value in .gitlab-ci.yml, among other enhancements.
In addition to these new features, GitLab 16.4 also brings several bug fixes, performance enhancements, and usability improvements.
