GitHub merges "Following" and "For you" home feeds into one and faces backlash from users
GitHub, the popular software development platform, has recently modified its homepage feed to a single, consolidated feed. This new feed amalgamates content from both the starred repositories of users and the users they follow. The alteration is a result of merging the “Following” feed and the “For you” feed, creating one unified location for content discovery.
In addition to this, GitHub has improved its filtering controls. These enhancements allow users to customize their feed to show only the event types they deem essential, such as announcements, follows, and recommendations.
Despite these changes aimed at streamlining user experience, a considerable number of GitHub users have expressed dissatisfaction. The new “For you” feed has been labelled with terms such as “horrible”, “hot garbage”, and “brutal”.
In response to the backlash, a GitHub user has developed and published a userscript. This script allows users to revert to the previous version of the feed, indicating a strong preference for the old format among some users.

what the hell is going on
Everyone is trying to get ads & paid content into feeds people prefer for that revenue. Twitter, sorry X, did the same thing and everyone hated it.
