1Password introduces Passkey support across desktop and iOS devices

1Password, a widely used password manager for both desktop and mobile platforms, has introduced passkey support. This new feature allows users to generate, manage, and utilize passkeys across a range of websites and apps.

As of today, passkeys can be saved and used for sign-in via the desktop version of 1Password within a browser, as well as on iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 devices. Additionally, users can access, manage, and share their saved passkeys on any device using 1Password.

To identify which of your logins can be enhanced with a passkey, users can either visit the online passkey directory or use the Watchtower feature within 1Password.

Google is currently developing Android 14 and associated APIs which will facilitate password managers like 1Password to generate and use passkeys within Chrome and any other applications that support passkeys. 1Password has confirmed readiness to integrate these APIs as soon as they are released, thereby extending the option to save and sign in with passkeys to Android 14 phones and tablets.
