YouTube tests AI-Generated summaries for videos, available for limited users

YouTube is currently testing a new feature: AI-generated summaries for videos, available for a limited number of English-language videos and users at the moment. These summaries will appear on YouTube's watch and search pages, providing a quick preview of the video content to determine if that match their interests.

These summaries, however, are not intended to replace video descriptions created by the video authors. The introduction of this feature follows attempts by other companies to use AI to auto-generate summaries of YouTube videos, including scrivvy.ai.

However, these tools have faced criticism from some YouTube creators, which argue that the AI tools often fail to accurately and comprehensively summarize the content of longer videos.
