YouTube Music doubles Liked Music Playlist cap to 10,000 songs, but it's still behind the competitors
In a quiet move, YouTube Music has increased the maximum number of songs users can have in their Liked Music playlist. Previously constrained to 5,000 songs, the cap has now doubled to 10,000 songs. This adjustment was first noticed by users on Reddit.
While this increase may be welcomed by users, it still falls short when compared to competitors like Apple Music, which allows up to 100,000 songs in a user's library, or Spotify, which does not limit the number of liked songs.
One drawback of YouTube Music's system is that once the cap is reached, the service will remove the oldest liked song to make room for new ones. However, with the new limit, songs that users had liked past the 5,000 mark were added back into the playlist all at once. This suggests that the older songs were not permanently deleted, but simply removed from visibility in the playlist.
