X (Twitter) introduces new privacy feature to hide likes tab and swipe to reply in DMs

X, formerly known as Twitter, has rolled out a new feature enabling paid users to hide their Likes tab. This is part of a new profile customization setting, in contrast to the previous setting where likes were publicly visible for all followers.

This change follows similar updates from competitor social networks Threads and Bluesky, which now allow users to view their own likes. X, however, has gone a step further by making the Likes tab visible only to the user (also hidden from X APIs), enhancing privacy. Despite the ability to hide the Likes tab, individual likes will remain visible on posts.

In addition to this, X has introduced a swipe to reply feature in direct messages for iOS and Android. This is in anticipation of the upcoming implementation of audio and video calls, available on iOS, Android, Mac & PC, without the need for a phone number.
