Vivaldi unveils version 6.2 with faster window opening, reduced memory usage, and more
Vivaldi has announced the release of version 6.2 of its web browser for both desktop and Android platforms. One of the key changes in the desktop version is the incorporation of Browser windows in Portal, an innovative feature that modifies how Vivaldi manages multiple windows. This results in a faster window opening process and reduced memory usage.
The Portal Windows feature, which is derived from React—a JavaScript Framework, facilitates a more efficient sharing of running code between windows. This enhancement has led to a 37% improvement in new window opening times compared to the previous version. A comparison with a 2018 version of the browser shows that windows now open a striking 64% faster.
In addition to this, Vivaldi 6.2 for desktop introduces other enhancements, including improved address field suggestions, and more. The update also includes version 1.7 of Vivaldi Mail, which introduces new mail filters and supports for the Fastmail OAuth login method.
For Android users, Vivaldi's latest version brings improvements to the browser's functionality. These include enhancements to the Tracker and Ad Blocker, Bookmarks, and Sync features. The update also focuses on refining details and improving the user experience for tablet users.
