Stremio unveils long-awaited comprehensive brand and app redesign, including updated mascot and interface
Stremio, the widely-used open source media center software, is finally launching a comprehensive brand and app redesign after being in progress for a considerable time. This is one of the biggest and longstanding community requests for years. The updated design features a dark and sleek aesthetic, with the Stremio mascot, Stremur, also receiving a visual update. The revamped Stremur Knight 3D model will now be freely available for personal use, including as a tabletop figurine or in board games (the 3D files can be downloaded from here).
The redesign extends to the logo, mascot, Desktop App, Android TV app, Mobile apps, and the website. The interface now boasts a cleaner layout, with thumbnails of audiovisual content taking center stage and a color scheme that combines the brand's signature violet with black. The new design includes a vertical cascade-style menu on the left side, offering options such as search, home, discover, collections, plugins, and settings. Detailed previews of movies or series are now displayed in a module on the right, providing information like synopsis, duration, release year, IMDb score, genre tags, cast, and more.
The updates will be implemented for all users within 24-48 hours, excluding Android TV users who sideloaded the app. Stremio encourages user feedback via its social media channels and urges users to report any new bugs that arise from the update. For those experiencing a broken user interface after the update, clearing the local cache is recommended. The transition to the new brand will occur over several weeks, during which the old logo may still appear as a desktop shortcut on Windows, MacOS, and Linux (You can take a look at the graphical changes in the Stremio app page photos on AlternativeTo).
