Reddit revamps website design for non-Logged In users
Reddit has updated its website design for users who aren't logged in, with the intent of improving the experience for first-time and infrequent visitors. The search results page has been made simpler, prioritizing posts over other content on mobile devices. Additionally, the landing page has been redesigned to allow users to browse content without needing to search. It now showcases six trending posts at the top, an increase from the previous four, and offers improved displays for images and videos with larger title sizes.
Desktop users will see a sticky sidebar that emphasizes relevant communities and posts as they scroll through the content. The sidebar also provides information about the community on a subreddit's landing page, such as the community banner, description, member count, and community rules.
This is the second update to the logged-out experience this year, and the experience in general has been optimized for better performance, leading to page load times that are twice as fast. However, it seems that the mobile site still displays a popup prompting users to open a post in the app, a feature that has been criticized by users. Although many subreddits have custom styling, this feature is currently not visible to logged-out users. These updates are part of Reddit's ongoing efforts to improve the user experience, particularly for those who visit the site infrequently or for the first time.
