Partnership on AI expands network with four new partners, including Internet Archive

The Partnership on AI (PAI), an organization aimed at unifying different perspectives within the AI community, has announced the integration of four new partners into their initiative. The newcomers include Credo AI, the Institute for the Future of Work (IFOW), Interpublic Group (IPG), and the Internet Archive.

Over the past year, Partnership on AI has seen an increase in its partnerships, with 12 new entities joining the initiative, and more currently under consideration for approval. The addition of these four organizations marks a significant expansion in PAI's collaborative network.

Jefferson Bailey, Director of Archiving & Data Services at the Internet Archive, stated in the announcement, “Libraries, archives, and other stewards of primary resources, culture, information, and data are essential players in ensuring the development of AI tools and systems that advance an equitable society. We are excited to join the PAI community and to work collaboratively to advance AI for the public good”.

However, the inclusion of the Internet Archive in the initiative has sparked a debate on social media, with users expressing mixed feelings about its role in the AI community. The discussions revolve around the potential implications of the Internet Archive's involvement in such an initiative.
