Mozilla integrates Firefox Relay into its web browser to enhance user privacy and mitigate data exposure
Mozilla has announced the integration of Firefox Relay into its Firefox browser, a development aimed at enhancing user privacy by protecting personal email addresses and mitigating data exposure risks. The built-in Relay feature, available at no cost to Firefox account holders, is anticipated to be accessible to millions of users within the next few weeks.
Firefox Relay's key function is the creation of 'email masks', disposable email addresses that can be used in lieu of regular email accounts. These masks, which can be deleted at any time, have no connection to any other email addresses, essentially acting as temporary email addresses for account signups, surveys, and other activities requiring an email address.
The new integration enables Firefox Account users to conveniently utilize email masks directly from a website's toolbar. This development aligns with Mozilla's ongoing commitment to privacy-driven products aimed at improving online user experiences. Earlier this year, Mozilla added features to Firefox Relay that allow users to consistently view Firefox Relay in their toolbar and to recycle or create new random email masks.
