Google reportedly developing new continuity-like features for Android devices: Call switching and internet sharing

Google is said to be developing a new feature for Android devices that will enable them to connect in a way similar to iOS Continuity features. This would allow devices logged into the same Google account to communicate, potentially enabling features such as "Call Switching" and "Internet Sharing."

Android expert Mishaal Rahman has suggested that this feature could allow for a smooth transition between connected devices during calls. The "Call Switching" feature could let users answer a call on one Android device and transfer it to another linked device, such as the Pixel Tablet. Google's "Call Switching" feature could also be used across various Android devices, which might be beneficial for users with multiple phones. The "Internet Sharing" feature could make setting up a personal hotspot across linked devices easier, contrasting Apple's ecosystem that doesn't support receiving calls from another iPhone. This would theoretically be similar to what apps like Phone Link offer on Windows for Android phones (where Samsung phones have even more features).

The expected location for the new feature's settings is under Settings Google Devices & Sharing in the device settings menu. As of now, Google has not officially declared the Android device linking feature, and no launch date has been specified.
