Google Keep introduces version history and text formatting features for enhanced note management
Google Keep has introduced a version history feature, enabling users to track changes made to their notes. The feature, first discovered by Artem Russakovskii of APKMirror, can be accessed by opening the note, clicking on the three-dot menu, and selecting "Version History." The version history file, downloadable in basic text format, covers text-related changes in the note. The feature is gradually being rolled out and currently supports text-based changes and colorful backgrounds. However, it is only available on the web version of Google Keep and does not yet support rolling back to a previous version.
In addition, Google Keep for Android now supports text formatting, as spotted by Mishaal Rahman, a feature that has been under development for over a year. Users will see a "New! Format your text in new notes" message and can access the formatting options by clicking on an underlined "A" icon in the notes toolbar. The options include Heading 1 (H1), Heading 2 (H2), Bold, Italics, Underlined, and Strikethrough.
The text formatting feature was spotted in Google Keep version 5.23.322.05, but it is not yet widely available on the Play Store. Initially, it will apply to new notes before being extended to existing ones. The introductory prompt for this feature only mentions the Android app. Users hope that the app will effectively handle pasted text from external sources.
