Apple Music's upcoming iOS 17 update to introduce Crossfade, Collaborative Playlists, SharePlay for CarPlay, and more

Apple Music is rolling out several new features that have been requested by many users for quite some time in the upcoming (and almost here) iOS 17 update. Among these, we have some notable additions such as Crossfade, which provides a seamless transition between songs, eliminating any dead air time, or the Collaborative Playlists, allowing friends and family to add, reorder, and remove songs from a shared playlist. For those who frequently use their car, Apple Music SharePlay for CarPlay enables users to share and contribute music in the car through Apple Music, even without a subscription. Users can use a QR code to access and add songs to the in-car Apple Music queue.

The streaming platform is also refining its interface, introducing animated artwork for albums and a smooth integration of album art with music controls. When minimized, the music player will exhibit a hovering effect for added depth. The Non-synced Lyrics feature will now display in a larger, more readable font, and users can view song credits including performing artists, composers, and production/engineering credits. Apple TV will also get some love, with the introduction of Apple Music Sing, a new feature that allows users to use their iPhone or iPad as a camera to sing along with lyrics on Apple TV, complete with follow-along lyrics and vocal adjustment.

With these and the other planned features for Apple Music, the app ramps up its efforts to keep pace with other well-known alternatives in the market, such as Spotify or YouTube Music. Are you excited to try out these new features? You will be able to do so officially once iOS 17 is released to the public between September 13 and September 21, 2023.
