OpenAI launches Beta version of Code Interpreter plugin for ChatGPT Plus
OpenAI has launched the beta version of its Code Interpreter plugin for ChatGPT Plus, following its initial alpha release. The plugin offers coding and data visualization capabilities, enabling users to analyze data, create charts, upload and edit files, perform mathematical operations, and execute codes.
The Code Interpreter plugin could potentially serve as a replacement for a data scientist, as it supports various common workflows including visualization tools, trend analysis, and data transformation. This is part of OpenAI's broader expansion of plugins for ChatGPT, with the platform now hosting over 200, up from the 12 initially announced.
The company has been introducing several improvements recently, such as the general availability of the GPT-4 API for all Plus subscribers. However, the release of these plugins has raised concerns around data security and privacy, with specific issues around jailbreaks and prompt engineering attacks. The organization recently experienced a data leak that resulted in the temporary suspension of a browser feature (using Bing), which was also in beta mode. Despite these safety concerns, OpenAI continues to make strides in its development, including the formation of a team dedicated to achieving superalignment within the next four years.
