Netflix upgrades profile transfer with the ability to migrate to an existing account
In response to its ongoing crackdown on password sharing, Netflix has upgraded its Profile Transfer feature. The update, announced on the Netflix blog, expands the capabilities of the feature, allowing users to transfer their data to an existing account, not just a new one.
The Profile Transfer feature was designed to help users affected by the password sharing crackdown to create their own accounts. It enables users to transfer personalized recommendations, viewing history, My List, saved games, and other settings. Previously, the feature only supported transfers from one account to a completely new account. The new update, however, allows users to transfer from one existing account to another.
Netflix has been actively blocking password sharing across households, particularly in the United States, and the company's new system requires devices logged into a Netflix account to connect to the home Wi-Fi network associated with that account every 31 days to prevent password sharing.
