Microsoft Edge to pre-install Google Docs Offline extension automatically
Microsoft Edge has discreetly announced in its stable channel's release notes that the Google Docs Offline extension will now come pre-installed. This extension, provided by Google, allows users to work on Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive without an internet connection.
While the extension will be pre-installed, it will remain disabled for Microsoft Edge users by default. However, it will be auto-enabled as soon as a user navigates to Google Docs.
Like any other extension, Microsoft Edge users have the option to remove the Google Docs Offline extension from their browser if they wish.
Microsoft has not disclosed the reasoning behind pre-installing the Google Docs Offline extension in its web browser. The extension can be beneficial for Google Docs users who need offline access, but it seems that most Edge users may not need the extension and might not want it pre-installed on their web browser.
