Microsoft Edge introduces Mouse Gesture support for enhanced browsing experience
Microsoft Edge has incorporated mouse gesture support, a highly awaited productivity upgrade. This feature allows users to execute various browser tasks by holding the right-click button and moving the mouse in certain patterns. The Edge Mouse Gesture functionality includes 16 customizable actions such as opening a tab, reloading a page, initiating InPrivate, and toggling between webpages, all designed to enhance the browsing experience.
Initially, the rollout of the gesture feature did not include an option to disable gestures on specific websites. Microsoft has addressed this by adding an exceptions list in Edge Canary, which allows users to deactivate mouse gestures for selected websites. Users can access this feature by navigating to the browser's menu, selecting Settings, then Appearance Configure Mouse Gestures, and finally choosing the Configure Block List option to add the websites they wish to exclude.
The mouse gesture support feature is not immediately visible, even in preview channels. To enable it, users need to visit edge://flags, activate the Microsoft Edge Mouse Gesture flag, and then turn on the Enable Mouse Gesture option in Settings Appearance. While Microsoft has not officially announced this feature, it is already available in the Stable Channel, hidden behind an experimental flag.
