Linux Mint 21.2 'Victoria' released featuring Cinnamon 5.8 and enhanced user interface

Linux Mint, the popular Linux distribution, has released version 21.2, dubbed Victoria. The latest version features Cinnamon 5.8 and an array of graphical enhancements. As a long-term support release, Linux Mint 21.2 will receive support until 2027, and it includes an updated software suite along with numerous refinements and new features designed to enhance the desktop experience.

Cinnamon 5.8, the desktop environment of Linux Mint, debuts a novel concept termed “styles”. This feature allows users to toggle between three distinct modes: mixed, dark, and light. In addition, each mode offers a variety of color variants, providing users with an array of customization options.

Linux Mint 21.2 also introduces a refreshed user interface for the software manager, along with an updated software suite. Other notable enhancements include redesigned folder icons, unified tooltips, and improved titlebars. The release also incorporates support for XDG Desktop Portal, a cross-desktop integration technology, and improved gesture support. These improvements collectively aim to create a more comfortable and efficient desktop experience for users.
