Bear 2 is just around the corner: A couple of things to keep in mind!
Bear 2, the sequel to the popular note-taking app, is set to launch pretty soon, and the team behind the service has shared a series of recommendations to ensure a smooth transition. Users are advised to back up their Bear notes and other important data. iPhone and iPad users can do this by going to Settings Import & Export, while Mac users can find the option under File Backup Notes.
On the day of the launch, users should not delete Bear 1. Instead, they should update their app through the App Store, where Bear 2 will replace Bear 1 and import all data seamlessly. Beta testers should not delete the beta version, but can visit the Mac and iOS pages after the launch to download the official version while preserving their data. Keep in mind that Bear 1 and Bear 2 cannot sync with each other, so Bear Pro users are advised to upgrade to Bear 2 on all their devices for synchronization. The price of the premium subscription will increase for new customers ($2.99/month, $29.99/year USD), but existing subscribers can maintain the current price by subscribing before the launch and keeping their subscription active.
The new update also has updated system requirements, so Mac users need macOS 11 or later, while iOS users should have iOS and iPadOS 14 or later, and Apple Watch users need watchOS 4.0 or later. It's important to ensure that all devices meet these requirements before updating. iPhone and iPad users can also check out Bear in the App Store, where there is a special Event card for the launch of Bear 2. By clicking the bell icon on the card, users can receive a notification when Bear 2 becomes available. By the way, if you're looking for a similar alternative to Bear, you might be interested in taking a look at Nota (Markdown) or Craft if you're using Windows (or Obsidian, if you want something more overkill).
