Scrcpy releases version 2.1 with Enhanced Audio Features, Bug Fixes and support for Foldable Devices
scrcpy , the free and open-source screen mirroring and remote control application, has released its latest version 2.1. This update comes with notable improvements and bug fixes that make the application even more reliable and efficient.
Scrcpy has gained popularity among Android users due to its simplicity and efficiency in mirroring Android devices on a computer. With Scrcpy, users can control their Android device from their computer, and the device's screen is mirrored on the computer screen. The application is available for Windows, Linux, and macOS.
The standout feature of the previous major update, scrcpy 2.0, was the inclusion of audio mirroring, enabling users to finally hear their phone's audio directly on their computer. The latest release 2,1 expands on this functionality by introducing an audio-only mode, which is a significant improvement.
By default, the device audio output is forwarded, but now it’s also possible to choose the device microphone as the audio source. The audio captured can also be recorded to an audio file, which is particularly useful for users who need to record audio notes, lectures, or interviews. So you could use, for example, your Android device as a dictaphone and record a capture directly on the computer.
Additionally, a new command has been introduced to stream video only, without any accompanying audio. Other improvements include partial support for Android 14 and enhanced dynamic device folding behavior. This allows the application to respond to "fold changed" events, making it easier to adjust the window size when mirroring foldable devices.
