Godot 4.1 Release Candidate 1 now available for Game Developers
Godot, the popular open-source game engine, has published its first Release Candidate of version 4.1 today. The company considers this build to be stable, but asks developers' help to report regressions before the official final version.
Godot 4.1 contains a lot of improvements compared to its predecessor, Godot 4.0, which was published earlier this year. The company has reworked some systems, which means that projects need to be updated. However, for most games made with 4.0, it should be safe to migrate to 4.1.
The company has made around 70 improvements for this release thanks to 41 contributors, including improvements to the 2D Tilemap and the editor, and many fixes for the GUI, the rendering and the multiplayer.
The release of Godot 4.1 is expected to be a major milestone for the game engine. With the release candidate now available, developers can start testing their projects and providing feedback to the Godot team.
