Debian 11.7 “Bullseye” released with 102 security updates and 92 bug fixes

The Debian Project has released Debian 11.7, the seventh update to the Debian GNU/Linux 11 “Bullseye” operating system series. This update includes all the security and software updates released since the previous version, Debian 11.6, was launched on December 17th, 2022, making it easier for users to deploy the operating system on new computers with up-to-date installation media.

Debian 11.7 includes 102 security updates for, among other software, Mozilla Firefox ESR, Thunderbird, Chromium, emacs, Java, and git. It also brings bug fixes for 92 packages, including Flatpak, Clamav, ncurses, systemd, LibreOffice, and new NVIDIA graphics drivers.

The new version is available for download from the official website for various hardware architectures, while live images pre-installed with desktop environments are available for 64-bit and 32-bit systems. Existing Debian GNU/Linux 11 “Bullseye” users can update their systems by running the sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade commands in a terminal emulator.

Debian 12 “Bookworm”, the next mayor version of the OS, is expected to be released in mid-2023, jumping from Linux 5.10 to Linux 6.1 and adding support for more hardware. It will receive security updates until July 2026 and will be maintained by the LTS team until June 2028.
