Rufus 4.0: 64bit application by default, but drops Windows 7 support

Rufus, the popular open-source software for creating bootable USB drives, has just released version 4.0 with many improvements and fixes. The new release solves several problems with Ubuntu 23.04 and some Windows Store application crash.

Rufus 4.0 comes also with a 64-bit application by default, offering better performance and stability. However, one of the major changes in this release is the dropping of support for Windows 7 and it now requires Windows 8, 8.1, 10, or 11. This decision was made to ensure that Rufus can continue to take advantage of the latest technologies and security features available in modern operating systems: it’s been 3 years since Windows 7 reached EOL, so it’s time to let it go.

I really do not understand why drop support for working platform! I believe there is no big difference. But till they have older release that works with 7 i have no objections. Anyway i hate these moves nowadays. When i hear something about "modern" technology and need support more secure and modern system i can not shake a bad feeling about further progression of application. Because everything "modern" just means more ads, bloats, AI, backdoors, bulkware... Also Rufus is a last standing app to create a bootable USB. Not so some time ago i had to install it on Windows 7 because i have not any modern Windows computer in hand. The Rufus is a great app. Used on premise by a more advanced users. So there should be more compatibility than modern approaches.
