Instagram cofounders' Artifact app introduces AI-powered Summaries Tool

Artifact, the personal news app created by Instagram cofounders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, has just released a new Summaries Tool. The tool has just released a new Summaries Tool that can generate article summaries by simply tapping “Aa” and then “Summarize” from the top menu on any article.

The summary is generated by the AI and will drop in above the article. The Artifact team says that they “believe this is a helpful tool to understand the high-level points of an article before diving in and reading the full text”.

The new Summaries Tool is a significant addition to Artifact's already impressive features. The app uses AI to curate personalized news feeds for each user based on their interests and reading habits. It also has a chatbot feature that allows users to have a conversation with the app to get personalized news updates.

The Artifact app has been gaining popularity due to its unique features and the reputation of its creators. Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger are well-known in the tech industry for their work on Instagram, which they sold to Facebook for $1 billion in 2012.

The pace at which Artifact is advancing is truly amazing! Being so new gives it the advantage of constantly searching and integrating new tools to find its niche and to be creative. Right now, I would say this is a great alternative to Feedly, with a mix of TikTok-news and some Reddit vibes. I'm looking forward to seeing how it evolves!

Sounds kind of cool! I love the ability to get a short form summary of a news item and then if im interested can dive into the details.

Its kind of a mess to read news online these days with all the consent windows and banners all over the place.
