There's no stopping Microsoft: Introducing Bing Image Creator to generate images with AI
Adding to its ChatGPT-based Bing AI assistant, Microsoft has announced a new rollout of AI-based image creation to Bing preview users. The Image Creator feature will be available through the chat interface, but it's also accessible directly at https://www.bing.com/create. Microsoft has already done an excellent job of making the free-to-use, text-to-image tool accessible to new users. Besides integration in the already intuitive Bing AI chat, the web creation interface provides easy examples, helpful tips and an apt FAQ section.
The Image Creator is powered by an advanced version of DALL-E from ChatGPT creator OpenAI, thus inheriting the notable ability to generate images at 1024 × 1024 resolution. Users typically need to either pay for generating images at that size or have a powerful computer to create their own with models like open-source Stable Diffusion. Image Creator is free, though users are provided a set number of “tokens” for image generation and the process is slower once they're used up. They can always pay for faster generations through Microsoft Rewards.
The 1024 × 1024 resolution is relatively tiny compared to modern smartphone camera photos, but AI images can be upscaled for free with tools from Hugging Face or using powerful commercial tools like Topaz Gigapixel with great results that typically enhance the original image.
Image Creator provides another great option for AI imagery enthusiasts and adds to the current excitement surrounding the field of AI.
