YouTube to roll out updates requiring disclosure of AI-generated content

YouTube has recently announced plans to introduce updates aimed at informing viewers about AI content. The updates, expected in the coming months, will require creators to disclose when they have used AI tools or other means to create realistic altered or synthetic content. This could range from AI-generated videos that depict non-existent events to content showing individuals saying or doing things they didn't actually do.

With the updates, YouTube will present new options for creators during the upload process to indicate if their content contains realistic altered or synthetic material. Creators who fail to disclose this information consistently may face penalties such as content removal, suspension from the YouTube Partner Program, or other sanctions.

Before the roll-out, YouTube plans to work with creators to ensure they understand the new requirements. To inform viewers about altered or synthetic content, YouTube will add a new label in the description panel and apply a more prominent label to the video player for sensitive topic content (elections, conflicts, etc.).

Additionally, YouTube will soon allow requests for the removal of AI-generated or other synthetic or altered content that simulates an identifiable individual, including their face or voice. This extends to music partners who will be able to request the removal of AI-generated music content that mimics an artist’s unique singing or rapping voice.

I think it is a good change, since there are so many videos using ai. Some not correct some are but they do not invest time but get money.
