OBS Studio 30 released with WHIP/WebRTC output, QSV H264, HEVC, and AV1 support on Linux

OBS Studio, the open-source software for video recording and live-streaming, has launched its version 30. The new release discontinues support for Ubuntu 20.04, Qt 5, and FFmpeg versions preceding 4.4.

The OBS Studio 30 introduces several new features and enhancements. Among these are the addition of WHIP/WebRTC output, a redesigned status bar, and the inclusion of Full-Height docks in the “Docks” menu. It also brings support for Intel QSV H264, HEVC, and AV1 on Linux, as well as a shader cache to optimize OBS startup time on Windows.

For macOS users, OBS Studio 30 introduces application audio capture and a reworked virtual camera compatible with all applications. It also introduces a “Safe Mode” that allows OBS to operate without third-party plugins, scripting, and web sockets.

Additional features include a YouTube Live Control Room Panel for streaming to YouTube, 10-bit capture support for Decklink devices, HDR playback support for Decklink output, and an option to hide OBS windows from macOS Screen Capture's “Display Capture”.

Alongside these enhancements, OBS Studio 30 also comes with numerous changes and bug fixes, further improving the performance and stability of the software.
