Microsoft teams up with Inworld AI to develop AI-powered tools for Xbox game creation
Microsoft has partnered with Inworld AI to create AI-powered tools for Xbox game development, introducing an "AI design copilot" to aid developers in crafting detailed scripts, dialogue trees, and quest lines. The partnership merges Inworld's expertise in generative AI character development with Microsoft's cloud-based AI services, like Azure OpenAI Service, and includes insights from Microsoft Research on gaming's future.
The AI toolset will feature an AI design copilot for scripts and dialogue, and an AI character engine for generating dynamic stories and quests. Inworld AI has been working on AI non-player characters (NPCs) that can respond to player queries, generate unique voices, form complex dialogue trees, and create personalized dynamic narratives.
The partnership's goal is to encourage innovation in upcoming games and equip game creators with the essential tools for experimenting and enhancing gameplay through this generative AI toolset, enabling them to determine the extent of AI integration in their games, with results yet to be seen. Nevertheless, I personally believe that we will soon witness more complex interactions, as seen months ago with AI NPCs in games like Skyrim.
