Mailchimp announces closure of TinyLetter newsletter service by February 2024

Mailchimp, the well-known marketing automation platform, has recently announced plans to shut down TinyLetter, the newsletter service it acquired in 2011. The closure is set to take place on February 29th, 2024. TinyLetter, post-acquisition, was utilized by Mailchimp to broaden its service range, enabling users to conveniently distribute updates, digests, and dispatches to their followers.

The decision to close TinyLetter is part of Mailchimp's strategy to “focus on our core Mailchimp product”, as stated by the company. However, current users of TinyLetter need not worry about immediate data loss. The platform remains accessible for now, with the capability to log in and export any necessary data, including past newsletters, drafts, and mailing lists. However, new user registration has been disabled.

With the impending closure of TinyLetter, users are encouraged to transition to Mailchimp or consider other alternative services.
