GitHub has announced GitHub Copilot Chat for enterprise will be available in December
GitHub has announced the general availability of GitHub Copilot Chat and previews of the new GitHub Copilot Enterprise offering. These new offerings are enhanced with AI-powered security features and are part of the GitHub Copilot Partner Program.
GitHub initially unveiled Copilot Chat in March, and subsequently launched a public beta for business users in July, before opening it to individuals in September. The service will become generally available in December 2023 as part of the existing GitHub Copilot subscription for both organizations and individuals.
Copilot Chat will be powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4 model and will be integrated into the JetBrains suite of IDEs. It will also include several other new features and improvements. GitHub Copilot Chat will also be directly integrated into GitHub.com and its mobile app.
With Copilot Chat connected to your repositories on GitHub.com, the new GitHub Copilot Enterprise offering enables teams of developers to quickly familiarize themselves with your codebase. They can search through and build documentation, get suggestions based on internal and private code, and quickly review pull requests. GitHub Copilot Enterprise will be generally available in February 2024 at a cost of $39 USD per user per month.
Microsoft has also announced the GitHub Copilot Partner Program, which aims to create an ecosystem that infuses new networks and ingenuity into GitHub Copilot, thereby broadening the scope of what developers can achieve with AI.
