Gitea 1.21 released with enhanced PR review and notification, Codeowners support, and more

Gitea, a lightweight DevOps platform often used as an alternative to GitHub and GitLab, has released its version 1.21. This update includes breaking changes and notable improvements.

Previously, a significant challenge for users reviewing a PR on Gitea was the inability to view past commits or a range of commits. This limitation has been addressed in the latest version. Users can now opt to review all changes, the changes of a single commit, a range of commits, or all changes since their last review.

Another new feature introduced in Gitea 1.21 is the notification system for recently pushed changes. The system prompts users to open a PR for their changes, streamlining the review process.

Gitea has also incorporated support for CODEOWNERS files. At present, the only functionality supported is the automatic assignment of code reviewers to PRs that modify specific files.

The 1.21 version allows pre-registration of OAuth2 applications for git credential helpers and displays branches and tags containing a commit.

Additional features include archived labels, enhancements to Gitea Actions, improvements to the admin page, and a simplified blame view. The new version also encompasses other features, improvements, and bug fixes.
