Brave launches AI assistant Leo for all desktop users

Brave has officially released its AI assistant, Leo, to all desktop users following a successful testing phase. Leo, initially available to Nightly version users in August, is now available to anyone using Brave browser version 1.60.

The AI Chatbot can be interacted with via its sidebar icon or by typing queries in the address bar. The AI assistant is capable of context-aware tasks such as summarizing webpages, translating text, and rewriting phrases. It is built on Llama 2 and Anthropic's Claude large language models (LLMs), with basic versions available to free users and advanced models accessible to Leo Premium users for a $15 monthly fee.

Brave guarantees user privacy by processing all Leo requests through an anonymous server proxy, thereby disconnecting any link to specific IP addresses. The firm asserts that responses are discarded immediately after generation, with no server storage or usage in training models. Subscription validation is carried out via unlinkable tokens, ensuring user activity and email remain anonymous to the company.

Yeah, this crap better have an option to disable it and hide it from view, or I'll be done with Brave. So sick of the hyped up AI BS everywhere.
